today's post would totally all about dancing.

as i had promised the other time that i would post the 11th Singapore Summer School. HERE THEY ARE!

Joo Chiat CC. It isn't that well- furnished compared to Serangoon CC.
There is a standing Directory. But lots of Room
but compared to Serangoon, it had a board next to the lift. more advance. =) this was the room we all danced in. NICE STUDIO isn't it? they even had a refrigerator. lots of food and water inside. and a big cupboard full of ballet stuffs. while serangoon CC don't have. During the ballet class. Normally we used the radio and the CD. but during the SSS. we had a pianist.. he is Mr Wong. COOL huhs?! you can have never-ending music. (saw the cupboard behind? lots of stuffs.) this was our dance 1st interval pose. our dance had 3 intervals. miss Nikki wanted us to have more applause from the audience. 3 minutes dance. and i find the tag irritating. This picture is the ballet class of level 5. At PA. totally so nice! their footwork is like so fabulous. This is the class level6 jazz. look at their grand jette (splits in air) . 180 degree! i never could train until like them. maybe 2 years down the road? this is miss Nikki Roland. our ballet teacher for the week. Our class jazz ending pose. the girl infront learns gymnastics. thus, her splits is like totally easy as a pie to her.
national character dance by level 5. choreograph by miss Nikki.
rehearsal at SCGS. level 5 jazz dance was the only dance that really captures me.

In all, i just love SSS. and all these photos are from Samantha. =) hope i could see you next year again. maybe next year SSS i could bring my camera along.

Saturday, i had 2 lessons dancing. first was CSTD grade 4 11.45 to 12.45pm. i was always used for the allegro B. to force all other dances to jump forward. i am always terrified that i would just hit until someone.. between 12.45 to 2.30pm. i was totally stretching myself. because i am joining the other class which was RAD grade 7 at 2.30pm to 3.45pm. it was quite boring. because all those techniques are so damn easy as to compared CSTD. i stayed for the next class. CSTD Sub-Elementary or Elementary. their footwork is like so damn wonderful. bar work was like so damn difficult. it really surprised me.

To those ballerina who is thinking whether they should be taking RAD or CSTD. here are some of my points of view.

RAD(London) : All the works of RAD is very simple but rigid. It is quite spoon fed. As the teachers of RAD could not compose their own dances. they had to follow the book that is given to them. importantly, when you see a RAD student perform, they had to act like a robot. not even a single breathing is allowed. Despite the works are easy, it is also easy to fail. From what my teacher said, the examiner could just simply deduct when she sees a short and fat dancer even she is a good dancer. there goes its distinction. and also, the way you ran in, the way you stands. it is totally madness. so if you wish to be rigid, you may go and join RAD.

CSTD(Australia): All the works are very difficult and challenging. it test on the way how you really present yourself. the teachers could just choreograph the dances if they find it boring. and even, there is a unsetted allergo, which is like the examiner could give any steps that your syllabus had learnt, and expect you to do it. although steps are important, but performance is a important point for CSTD examination.

from what i learnt in the SSS. As due to my class that there was a mixture of RAD and CSTD people, when to bar work, CSTD is able to follow but not as good as the RAD. but when we comes to the centre work. RAD could not present themselves. nor having the confidence. causing them to wobble. there is the difference. so what i would suggest that either if youo would like to be on stage. CSTD is the way for you. but if you just want to train on techniques, RAD suits you. But i would encourage that taking both is good.. it is a good balance as firstly, you could learn the way on how to presenting yourself on stage and RAD builds up the techniques..
